1. Tell us about where you grew up.
I grew up in East Leeds in a place called Crossgates. I lived there all my life until I moved to Knaresborough in 2018.
2. What brought you to Zixtel?
After finishing my A levels, I went to work full time in retail; I decided university was not for me. I worked for Asda for 10 years where I worked my way up to management and ended up as a manager at a store in Pontefract. After being there for a couple of years, I decided it was time for a change and I had the opportunity to come and work at Zixtel, as I knew one of the directors from my time at Asda. Julie was actually one of my managers at Asda when I started there. I took up the job and I have been here ever since.
3. How long have you been in this industry?
I have been with Zixtel for 12 years now. When I started, I had no experience or knowledge of the industry but over the years have picked up a fair bit mainly down to on the job training etc.
4. What is your role at Zixtel and what do you like about it?
I’m currently a bit of a jack of all trades, I help out where is needed and give help and advice to my fellow colleagues. I also look after the data wiping side of things, helping customers and members of the team a-like.
5. What is your favourite thing about working for Zixtel?
Working for Zixtel is like being part of a family, there are good times and bad, but you are looked after. Teamwork is very important here and we all work together to get things done. The people are great as well, everyone gets on with each other well and there is a real mix of different characters which can make it an interesting place to work.
6. What would you say is your USP?
I am very friendly, approachable and care about the people around me. I love a challenge!
7. What do you like to do outside of work?
Outside of work is all about family, I have 3 children so that tends to keep me busy. I am also a member of my local running club so whenever I can I’m out running. I take part in races and love to do obstacle races.
8. Do you have any hidden talents?
I can play a little bit of guitar and can sing (so I’m told).
9. Who is your ideal party guest and why?
Hmm tricky one… I would probably say Dave Grohl as I’d love to hear his stories about his life.
10. If you could have anyone play you in a movie, who would it be and why?
Haha not too sure about that one! Maybe David Tenant as I’ve been told I look a bit like him (not sure I see it though). I remember a little girl coming up to me in Asda once and asking me if I was Dr Who!
