A Quick Conversation with … Taz!
Taz is part of our brilliant sales team and is responsible for working directly with our customers. As a customer, you may have spoken to Taz over the phone, but there’s probably a few things about him that you didn’t know. Find out what these are in this short interview!
1. Tell us about where you grew up.
I grew up in Market Weighton, a small town between York and Hull. The town’s only claim to fame is it’s the birthplace of Britain’s tallest ever man, William “Giant” Bradley; there’s even a statue of him in the town! There’s also a story that a huge sandstone boulder, that is located in the town, was carried 2 miles from a neighbouring village, Goodmanham, by Giant Bradley; the stone weighs at least 250KG so it’s up to you whether you believe that or not!
2. What brought you to Zixtel?
My car most days…just kidding! I had a few interviews and I liked Jon and Julie when they were interviewing me, and they seemed like people I could work well with. I liked the company’s ethos and the fact that they were environmentally conscious, being an AATF, and nothing went to landfill, so when they offered me a job, I didn’t hesitate!
3. How long have you been in this industry?
I’ve been in the industry for just over 9 months now.
4. What is your role at Zixtel and what do you like about it?
My role is a Sales Account Manager. The best thing is the variety of different people you can sell to. Every business has either a PC, workstation or server of some kind so there is almost no limit to who you can sell to!
5. What is your favourite thing about working for Zixtel?
The best thing about working at Zixtel is definitely the people and the office environment! Everyone is super helpful, and you can have a good laugh with everyone, whilst working hard obviously!
6. What would you say is your USP?
The quality of my beard and the number of different roles I can do. In this role and other previous roles, I’ve performed every aspect of sales and admin, quality control, production and even been responsible for ISO accreditations – just don’t tell anyone about the ISO knowledge because I hate doing it!
7. What do you like to do outside of work?
Music is probably my biggest hobby. I play guitar, bass and attempt to sing occasionally! I play football most weekends and I play golf whenever I can!
8. Do you have any hidden talents?
Most people don’t know but I trained in Karate for 10 years, became a 1st Dan black belt when I was 18 and I ran my own karate class for just over a year!
9. Who is your ideal party guest and why?
Chris Kamara (footballer) – he’s barmy and who doesn’t love a nutter at a party?!
10. If you could have anyone play you in a movie, who would it be and why?
Stanley Tucci – he’s bald and bearded (like me in a few years) but better looking and way cooler than I am. It would be an ideal fit, I reckon!
