Zixtel celebrates commitment to the real living wage
Zixtel Ltd is now an accredited Living Wage Employer.
Our Living Wage commitment will see everyone working at Zixtel Ltd receive atleast a minimum hourly wage of £9.90, significantly higher than the government minimum for over 23s, which currently stands at £9.50 per hour, with the majority of our starting salaries already much higher than this.
Zixtel Ltd is based in Yorkshire and the Humber, a region where almost a fifth of all workers (18.5%) earn less than they need to get by, with over 410,000 jobs paying less than the real Living Wage. Despite this, we have committed to pay the real Living Wage and deliver a fair day’s pay for a hard day’s work.
The real Living Wage is different to the Government minimum wage for people over 23 years old, called the ‘National Living Wage’ (NLW). The real Living Wage is independently calculated based on living costs and is paid by employers voluntarily, whilst the government’s NLW is based on a percentage of median earnings, and all employers are required to pay it.
Since 2011 the Living Wage movement has delivered a pay rise to over 300,000 people and put over £1.6 billion extra into the pockets of low paid workers.
Julie Pickersgill, Operations Director, Zixtel Ltd said:
“We’re over the moon to be accredited as a Living Wage employer. Our people are our business and its important to recognise that from the outset and throughout. We aim to set an example to our clients and those who we work with, of the positive impact of this kind of initiative to maximise social value within our communities.”
Toni Cox, HR & Compliance Manager, Zixtel Ltd said:
”Every employee should feel valued, rewarded, and respected for the vital work they do and the valuable role they play in our businesses. For that reason we encourage as many employers as we can to get on board with the initiative and proudly showcase your dedication to ethical employment too!”
Katherine Chapman, Director, Living Wage Foundation said:
“We’re delighted that Zixtel Ltd has joined the movement of almost 9,000 responsible employers across the UK who voluntarily commit to go further than the government minimum to make sure all their staff earn enough to live on.
“They join thousands of small businesses, as well as household names such as Burberry, Barclays, Everton Football Club and many more. These businesses recognise that paying the real Living Wage is the mark of a responsible employer and they, like Zixtel Ltd, believe that a hard day’s work deserves a fair day’s pay.”
